A while back I wrote about the site Alibaba. To understand how this site works and how to benefit from it, the evolution and history of the site must be examined.
Business-to-Business site Alibaba.com belongs to company Alibaba Group which was founded in 1999. There are several sites which are owned by Alibaba Group. Most of these sites are made to trade, communicate and interact within China. Alibaba.com is for English speaking international trade participants – small and medium sized businesses.
What started as a fresh idea and small trades site has grown and is visited by amore than 2.5 million Unique Visitors per month. Right now Alibaba.com offers different safe ways to trade between sellers and buyers – there are Gold Supplier membership for Chinese exporters and TrustPass membership for suppliers outside China mainland, they have TradeManager – online chat program to chat in real time. They have upgraded the search function with suggestions (see bellow) and much more.
The name for Alibaba was taken from the main character of the tale “The Thousand and One Nights”. And not because this is a story about 40 thieves. Alibaba is not a thief. Alibaba is a kind, smart business person, who helped his village. Alibaba.com is an Opens Sesame for small and medium sized enterprises.
